Quote from MEP Alexandra Geese
Tech/Cordon sanitaire
Alexandra Geese, Greens/EFA shadow rapporteur on the Industry Committee's (ITRE) report on technological sovereignty and digital infrastructure, which was drafted after a Greens/EFA initiative, comments on today's adoption of the report:
"Europe urgently needs a decisive push for technological sovereignty. Our economy, our public services, and even our democracy rely on digital infrastructures we neither build nor control. The democratic majority worked together and delivered a good common report.
"Unfortunately, MEP Knafo kept her name on the report even though she lost the vote, selling the work of the democratic forces as her own. The cordon sanitaire holds and the far-right should have the courage to withdraw their rapporteur‘s name."
